ModCell Core Passiv

¡ModCell Core Passiv receives Passivhaus component certification!

We are very proud to announce the Passivhaus component certification of the ModCell Core Passiv building system! This is the first time a bio-based system made from natural and renewable materials has received Passivhaus certification, brining together the highest levels of comfort and energy efficiency that is the trademark of Passivhaus, with renewable bio-based materials.

The certification is the result of a 3-year European research project, EuroCell, funded by EACI-EASME (Executive Agency for Small and Medium Size Enterprises) and led by Professor Pete Walker of the University of Bath.

Progetic worked closely with ModCell over a period of two years, to develop a set of 26 robust construction details, that now meet the stringent thermal and comfort requirements of the Passivhaus standard.

"We are delighted to have secured the worlds first PassivHaus Component Certifications for straw bale construction. The unique combination of Passivhaus Component Certification, ModCell’s low-carbon, renewable materials and the Flying Factory delivery models, means that there is no other building system that can deliver triple-bottom-line sustainable development in quite the same way. Our journey towards building a low-carbon, affordable and sustainable future just got easier”.

Craig White Director at White Design and ModCell.

We were at the EcoBuild 2015 event in London to witness the formal presentation of the certification.
